Narrative Description of Project: Road and Lane Improvement: Supervision of Sub Grade, Sub Base course, Base Course, DBM and Asphalt concrete etc. for Single lane, double lanes, four lane roads with Drainage, Footpath, Road Furniture, Street lightening of 18. 78 56 kms and s ix Iane 7.1064 Kms (By Pass Road highway). Storm Water Drains: Supervision with occasional Detailed survey, design of 11.367 kms length brick masonry and R.C.C. Hume pipe (of diameter 300 mm to 1200 mm) storm water drains works etc. Road Side Drains: Supervision with occasional Detailed survey, design of 16.246. kms length brick masonry and R.C.C. Road side drains works etc. Retaining (Toe) wall: Supervision with occasional Detailed survey, design of 10.358 kms length Retaining (Toe) wall works etc. Footpath: Supervision with occasional Detailed survey, design of 65458 Sq.m. Footpath works etc including interlock tiles. Median: Supervision with occasional Detailed survey, design of 16193 Running Mtrs. Median works etc. Minor Bridges: Design and Construction Supervision of three numbers of RCC minor Bridges, one on the six Jane By-pass roads and two on the Radhemai road. Wastewater Treatment Plant10 MLD (Contract No. STIUEIP/W/BRJ/ICB-01): Supervision of 10 MLD capacity of Sump well with pumping station, Diversion chamber (1 No.), Bar screen chamber (1 No.), Grit Chamber (1 No.), Anaerobic Ponds (2 Nos.), Facultative Ponds (2 Nos.), Sludge Drying Bed (8 Nos.), Office cum Lab building, workshop building, guard quarter, generator and changing house, 24x7 Dedicated electricity feeder line, submersible pump and site development works etc. Sewer Lines (Contract No. STIUEIP/W/BRJ/ICB-01): Maintenance and supervision of 7.811 km length HDPE pipes of 200 mm, 250 mm diameter and spigot type of R.C.C. Hume pipes of 300mm,450mrn,500mm, & 800 mm diameter in size Sewerage system with Manholes, sewer inlets, House Connection Chamber , Trunk Mains and secondary sewers works etc. Integrated Solid Waste Management (Landfill Site) Works (Contract No. STIUEIP/W/ BRJ/ICB-02): Supervision with occasional Detailed survey, design of different components works including three waste disposal cells (Covering total area of 5 hactres); two Anaerobic Ponds, one Facultative Pond and one Maturation Pond for the treatment of leachate coming out of the cells, service roads within the premise of the site; erection and setting out of weighing bridge, shredding system for shredding the decomposable wastes used for composting; Operation and Maintenance of the system including collection and transportation of wastes (up to 45 tons per day) to the site; segregation of the wastes as reusable for 3-R system, decomposable wastes for composting for the purpose of resource generation and inert wastes to the cells for sanitary refilling with due compaction etc. Total Project Cost: NRs. 2,576,025,863.08 |

Description of Actual Services Provided in the assignment: Assist the Municipality (Birgunj Metropolitan City) in (i) Supervising overall project implementation and management, (ii) Construction management of the subprojects i.e. improvement and development of drainage systems; and improvement of urban roads and lanes, (iii) Ensuring proper monitoring of project activities, and (iv) preparing specific operation and maintenance plans for subprojects (v) Design of additional roads and drainage projects and design review of roads and drainage and integrated solid waste management project (vi) Updating of Resettlement Plan and Maintenance of Grievance Redress Mechanism (vii) Preparation of Environmental Management Plan (EMP) and Resettlement Action Plan (RAP) (Viii) Trainings for institutional strengthening and capacity development of the municipality (Birgunj Metropolitan City) in the following areas: project management and operation; institutional support under capacity development for strengthening and establishing units responsible for sewerage/ drainage; Project Management; GESI Mainstreaming at PIU; Contract Management and administration; Construction Supervision includes quality monitoring; environmental and Social Compliance monitoring; On the job training to community, Construction site Management; (ix) Submission of reports at supervision phases (Inception Report, Monthly and Quarterly progress report, interim report, Annual progress report, Draft Final Report and Final Report, Project Completion Report) (ix)Assist PIU in matters related to Project Construction Management and in Post-Construction Phase: Defect Notification Period (DNP) and (x) Operation and Maintenance of Roads, Storm Drains, Side Service Drains, Integrated Solid Waste Management (Landfill Site) System, sanitation and sewerage sub- project. |
